The Prescott Playboys Newsletter
May 2013

Newsletter Hello Music Lovers,

Below is an article written by a good friend of the Prescott Playboys in Turkey, TX this past April. Bix won 1st place in the overall. Bix and Jordan won the Twin Fiddle contest. They will both be wearing champion belt buckles at the Raven Cafe on Tuesday evening May 7th Playboys performance.

Fred,

Here is the article about your music in Turkey. It will run in the Valley Tribune the week following Bob Wills Day! Regards, Robin Brown.

"Some good jam sessions were held in Turkey at the old lumber-yard during the Wills celebration, this past week. Most any musician could sit-in with the Prescott Playboys of Arizona. This group was founded by guitar players Fred Spears and Ken Heide a few years ago and it now includes fifteen year old fiddler Jordan Brambila. It has become routine for this band to travel to Turkey each year and perform. On Tuesday and Wednesday an excellent sax player one Larry Nelson of Grove, Kansas played as did drummer Red Merryman of Donna, Texas and Louis Guenther a guitarist of NM. Stan Phillips of Lake Travis and local musician Robin Brown also played a song or two with the band.

On Wednesday the musicians were honored when Playboy 'Joe Settlemires' and
his wife dropped by to listen while Playboy pianist Wayne Glasson had also been
in the lumberyard to listen the day before. At the Bob Wills Museum, bands were invited to play onstage there also. On Thursday afternoon Louis Guenther, Bennie Brown and several other musicians played. Their songs included several Western Swing numbers, a Gospel song and some country music."

Be sure to come listen to The Prescott Playboys at the Raven Cafe on May 7th. Like us on facebook during the month and see what else is going on.
